Fun Fact: Giraffes most certainly are NOT native to Northern Va, but that is where MY story began!
On a sunny day in April, one of Wild Child’s board members and her excitable little girl picked me up from where I used to reside in Northern Virginia, and we hit the road- homeward bound! Picture my 7′ tall self in an SUV- WHAT A SIGHT TO SEE!! Hanging my neck out the sunroof sounded like the more fun option, but getting home safely was of utmost importance so I enjoyed a nice nap in the back, instead. Ever since then I have been living with my “foster family” in Broadway, Va. The Smith family is treating me like one of their own. I rode with them to the river at the covered bridge, where a group of children spotted me in the car. Of course I got out to introduce myself! I hope to see those enthusiastic kids again at Wild Child: Museum & Menagerie! Like me, they love to have fun so they would fit right in!! I also attended a Mother’s Day cookout with the Smith Family. There, I got to make even more friends — not just kids, but also with three SHEEP!!! As fate would have it, those sheep will be visiting one of Wild Child: Museum & Menagerie’s Summer Camps for a play date! Personally, I CAN’T WAIT!

Life has been all fun, even when it comes time for business. Wild Child: Museum & Menagerie hosted their latest board meeting at their future location inside of Mount Jackson’s CREW building. That’s actually where I made my grand debut to the Board members — my new forever family! The Board got down to business, led by Wild Child’s Founder & Executive Director, Rosie. Meanwhile, I helped “babysit” the Board members’ own Menagerie of the tiny human sort.
My next official appearance was during the Shenandoah Valley Baby Expo at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds. My previous blog featured a photo and small caption about my attendance there, but there’s more to tell! The event brought in a huge crowd of families — some with children, Mommies-to-be, Grandmothers, Uncles, and Caregivers. Needless to say, I really drew in the crowd (considering I hover an astonishing seven feet tall, overtop of everyone!) I am so hoping to see some of the new friends I made that day when they visit me at Wild Child: Museum & Menagerie!!

I also look forward to meeting YOU, and all of my followers in LESS THAN ONE MONTH, when we have our Grand Opening on June 14, 2025.
